Two cases of Pierre Robin syndrome were presented; one was treated surgically and the other with the conservative way.
This syndrome represents micrognathia and glossoptosis, and resulting inspiratory abstruction and cyanosis in the newborn infant. This frequently calls for the emergency operation because of the airway obstruction, however, the palliative treatment is also effective in mild cases.
The pathogenesis, symptom, and diagnosis of Pierre Robin syndrome are reviewed. The various surgical procedures for the treatment of this syndrome are discussed.
